Old Yale Brewing’s Sasquatch Stout Wins Best Beer in Canada.

June 4, 2014 – Out of 916 beer entries from over 130 Canadian breweries, Old Yale’s Sasquatch Stout was recognized as the highest-scoring single entry beer in all 38 categories and named “Beer of the Year”.

“We are extremely honored to receive this prestigious award considering all the great beers being crafted each and every day in Canada. It’s an exciting time for the craft beer industry which is healthy and growing. For over 15 years, Old Yale Brewing Company has been a key part of the Canadian Craft Beer community and we are extremely proud to be recognized for our great beer that honours the hard work and attention to detail that goes into every pint” said Zach VanLeeuwen, Operations Manager for the Brewery. In March, 2014 Old Yale Brewing Company was purchased by 2Story Group, a privately-held Canadian company which owns, manages and invests in like-minded and strategically-sound businesses throughout North America. “We knew there was something unique about Old Yale’s beer and the way they saw things just a little bit different than the rest” said 2Story Group Founder Ron Mayert. Old Yale’s brew master, Larry Caza, has been brewing craft beer for over 20 years and can be considered one of the pioneers of the North American Craft Beer Industry. Larry has inspired many new brewers to take up the art of producing homegrown beers. “Congratulations to Larry and our team for your inspiration and dedication to producing a beer that has reached the pinnacle of the Craft Beer Industry” continued Mayert. Larry Caza describes the Old Yale Sasquatch Stout as “black and robust with a lot of body, just like the mysterious animal itself! A complex, full-on oatmeal stout with notes of mocha, coffee and roasted barley. It’s a beer that any coffee or beer lover will enjoy, from its smooth silky texture to its frothy creamy head.”

Future for Old Yale
Big things are happening at the Old Yale Brewing Company – “We have a new look, and new products coming soon to store shelves,” said Operations Manager Zach VanLeeuwen. “The brewery is expanding; new equipment has been ordered, and beer production has already increased by 70% over the same time last year.”
